Ways we work
We enjoy working with children and their families and have treated children as young as 6 months old through to young teenagers of 13-14 years old.
Clinics
The clinic is a safe place, where children can work with me to reach the goals set for them. I have use of a room in a clinic that allows for gross motor work, including suspended equipment. In addition we have a well stocked games and craft cupboard to encourage gross and fine motor development.
Schools
We have a long-standing relationship with the schools in our area and will visit individual schools to observe the child in their classroom environment, to liaise with the teaching staff and be part of the team in creating the best possible learning environment for the child.
We have been involved in helping to set appropriate individual educational and care plan goals and have provided reports to support applications for occupational therapy to be added to a statement of special educational needs or to gain additional time in exams or the use of laptop in certain situations.
LEA provision
We are a recognised provider by the local LEA departments and currently provide clinic based and school based intervention on their behalf.
Workshops
We strongly believe that education is key in helping both families and teaching staff understanding and work with a child who has an immaturity in their gross or fine motor development or sensory processing.
We have led whole day workshops as well as an hour in service training in the local schools. We are currently looking at a series of workshop modules that we believe will be of use to Teachers and Teaching assistants in their work with children in their classroom. We are also looking at offering workshops for parents to allow for greater understanding and discussions about sensory integration.
