Our Practice
We offer a thorough and effective assessment and treatment centre, where children could receive occupational therapy help for as long as they needed it.
The practice was set up at the beginning of 2000 with the goal of creating a centre that offers thorough and effective assessment and treatment . We wanted to be able to provide a setting where children could receive occupational therapy help for as long as they needed it. We believe nothing replaces the skills and knowledge of a trained therapist and so promote a hands on approach. We value the impact follow through at home can have on a child's progress, so encourage parents to be involved both in setting the treatment goals and in following up with activities at home.
Our qualifications
As a specialist Occupation Therapist, I am qualified to assess and treat babies and children. Typically working with children from the age of 6 months to 14 years old, using motor based intervention. I am registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC), with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and part of the RCOT specialist section for independent practitioners working in Paediatrics.
Standards of practice are regulated by the HCPC.
Our experience
I have many years of experience helping babies and children who have difficulty mastering their gross or fine motor skills, including handwriting. I also work with infants who are developmentally behind their physical milestones.
My experience and expertise include working with children who have Sensory Processing Disorder, Dyspraxia, or Developmental Co-ordination Disorder, Down's Syndrome, Autism or Aspergers Syndrome.
Our approach
I use standardised assessments and clinical observations to assess the child, which allows me to write a detailed report and provide a follow-up feedback session after the assessment.
I offer school based occupational therapy as well as clinic based treatment sessions, using sensory integration equipment. including suspended equipment.
I am happy to liaise with school staff and make local school visits to encourage carry over into the school setting.
